When MikeyM™ interviewed for a degree in his informative years, one of the questions the interviewer asked was “Do you need Law in a society of Angels?”.
After much dithering, MikeyM™ gave some half baked response that was way wide of the mark.
He subsequently learned of the answer they were seeking, however, which has resonated since.
The answer is that “Yes. You do need Law in a society of Angels, because even Angels need to know where to park”.
And there is very important point here.
Namely, that the vast majority of the law exists not to punish, but to ensure society runs smoothly.
To do this, everyone needs to abide by the same set of rules otherwise there would be carnage.
Once this background reasoning for laws is understood and appreciated as a positive social good, the task of complying with laws that may appear burdensome is made considerably easier and less daunting.
From a StressBusting™ perspective, the relevance of this is that non compliance with laws (whether intentional or inadvertent) can be an immense source of anxiety.
Take tax filings for an example.
Everyone knows they have to submit them to the authorities by a certain date, but leaving it to the last minute or electing to simply ‘suffer a fine’ can send anxiety levels through the roof.
Of course, there is some natural frustration that other people decide not to comply with laws themselves, but ultimately the system is refined enough to catch up with these individuals eventually and being concerned with them is a futile and wasteful use of the most valuable personal Stressbusting™ tool at your disposal – Energy (see more in our previous post entitled "ENERGY: The Most Precious Stressbusting™ Commodity in Life").
Added to that, those people live a woeful life of looking over their shoulder at every corner, and who would want to live under that sort of self created pressure?!
So, embrace legal obligations for what they are – practical necessities to ensure that our society operates to an optimum level of efficiency that satisfies all our respective needs – rather than sweat over them.
Don’t put them off or try to circumvent them, as the anxiety resulting is simply not worth the hassle.
Lots of perfectly lawful hearts and kisses,
LouLoU&MikeyM™ 🥰❤💙 xxxxxxx
