We have described in our previous posts excellent but simple practical techniques to reduce anxiety that we hope our readers have found interesting and useful.

And here is another we use on those days when we may be feeling a degree of overwhelm for any reason

We take up a comfortable position, close our eyes (though this is optional) and try to declutter our minds by focusing on a simple black circle.

We slow our breathing by counting to 4 as we breathe in through our noses, hold our breath for a second and breathe deeply out of our mouth to the count of 6 seconds, pushing our tummies out in the process.

We do this until the breathing irons out any jitters in our breathing and it has instead become smooth.

Then while maintaining that relaxing breathing cycle, we imagine being in a nice hot shower and try to really imagine the sound of the water against our skin as well as the sound of the water.

Only in this case the water is a clear, bright white washing down and then away all the toxins, baggage and any negativity in our day or lives.

If we want, we can imagine looking down and seeing all that negativity disappearing down the shower hole as our skin starts to shine again.

We end this technique by mentally switching the shower off when we are 'clean', opening our eyes and smiling widely.

We find this to be a powerful cleansing exercise that can easily be performed over a few minutes that we invite our readers to try for themselves.

The powerful mental exercise can even be performed while taking an actual shower if and when safe to do so.

We are also always excited to also hear of our readers own techniques to garner calm and reduce anxiety.

Of course no such exercises should be undertaken whilst driving, operating heavy machinery or where any other form of concentration is required - please consult our "Legal Notices" page for further info.
