It’s odd to think that what we eat can affect our anxiety levels, but it most certainly does.
At the end of the day, like any other area of life "You only get out what you put In".
And consuming enough of these foods can save the need to rely on artificial supplements.
At a basic emotional level, eating what makes us feel good helps.
Though that ought not to be treated as a blank cheque to reach for the Hershey's all the time!
Little treats now and again instead being the order of the day.
And then more specifically there are foods scientifically proven to assist stressbusting™ from a biological perspective.
These include, for example, garlic, broccoli, camomile tea and blueberries, all of which should naturally be included within a responsible wellness diet.
However, from a point of view of reducing stress, apparently seaweed is the champion above all else.
Seaweed is rich in a combination copper, iodine, iron and calcium, alongside, vitamin B2 magnesium and pantothenic acid – all stressbusting™ superstars!
Now, its unlikely in the Western world many are going to start replacing their side dish of reassuring French Fries with a comfortable Bed of Seaweed overnight.
But Sushi is now readily available as a source of seaweed as well as other important nutrients.
We hear so many people say they ‘wouldn’t touch the stuff with a barge pole’ but while a little reticent in the first instance, we have really become quite attached to our Sushi.
It can be succulent, varied and incredibly satisfying in small portions - just what a wellness diet needs.
And if you are brave enough to engage the full authentic experience - the use of chopsticks - then this will reduce the speed at which you eat and therefore additionally aid digestion (a fantastic calorie consumption management technique all of its own!).
Sushi is a prime example of the need to be open minded enough to embrace the experiences and practices of different cultures to optimise stressbusting™ opportunities (see our post entitled “Engage your Inner Sherlock to Stressbust™” on this key theme of being inquisitive to enhance a stress management regime).
So, please give our good friend Sushi a break and instead give it a try – and remember to let us know what you think!
