Here at StressBustingExpert™, we believe that one of the best ways we can reach out and support our readership and leadership base is to offer ourselves out as real time case studies wherever possible to make our content more relevant, relatable and accessible.
And there can be few more important choices to make in life than a choice of career; particularly as many of us spend up to a third of our lives working.
We believe a career choice should be based on two key questions over and above any others, namely:-
- 💖 what do we love doing most out of the options available?
-👍 what do or could we do best out of the options available?
When we decided to set up and commit both our time as well as hard earned financial resource to StressBustingExpert™, we applied the above two stage test and our conclusions were as follows:-
- 💖 We love sharing experiences with others and learning from the experiences others kindly share with us; we are also extremely passionate about the issue of opening a transparent, unjudgmental dialogue on stress and it being recognised more widely as a major constituent of overall wellness, as we hope is apparent from our Mission Statement that we subsequently prepared and which can be viewed by clicking here.
- 👍 We have both enjoyed and excelled in careers involving extensive research and the simplification of communication, so are therefore confident writers who enjoy the autonomy and freedom of thought that an online as opposed to physical business model presents to us. We have had more than our fair share of highly stressful work based and personal experiences including cancer diagnosis, managed bereavement, job loss, litigation, home birth and suffering fraud, to name but a sample of subjects that now form the basis of specific real time posts on this site; these experiences, we felt, made us well placed to introduce possible stress reduction strategies in a way that was relatable and accessible to readers.
We honestly did not apply major focus to financial considerations over and above hopefully recovering our outlay in due course, primarily because we were incentivised by our passion to be a catalyst for change, a fact attested to by the reasons for our decision not to apply for charitable status - see our post entitled "Why have we not applied for Stressbusting™ Charitable Status?" for further context.
But this was also because we determined that if it transpired that not even a single independent reader viewed a single post, we would have developed an information legacy for our young family in our advancing years were anything to happen to us - see our post entitled "Have a "Plan B"".
We further knew, however, that we would be highly motivated and energised by our work and enjoy this phenomena carrying over to the rest of our personal lives, a peripheral but nevertheless very important benefit not to be overlooked in the decision making process - see "ENERGY: The Most Precious Stressbusting™ Commodity in Life". Such motivation and energy, we felt, would also increase the likelihood of the business being successful, which indeed has been proven by the level of interest and traction we are enjoying.
While we hope the above case study assists, career choice is of course in the end unique to each individual and may require an assessment as to whether a person's objectives are better suited to self employment - the content of our post entitled "Stressbusting™ the risks of Self Employment" might help in that regard.
And neither career choice nor change are matters to be rushed; speaking to others who you know and trust, or who are well versed in such matters, can help the endeavour immeasurably.
