We describe in our post entitled "Break Time Quickie - The Importance of a Stressbusting™ “WTP” Analysis" the process we undertake when determining whether we should purchase an item that we consider to be expensive.
In terms of where we spend our hard earned funds, we are ever mindful of the fact that convenience does tend to come at an increased cost and that we might have to make some effort and go out of our way to get the deal we feel we deserve.
A great analogy here are the costs of goods at airport terminals or motorway service stations
These are astronomical precisely because there are no other options available once you are there, which is why it is imperative to ensure you are armed with what you need before leaving on a journey (see our post entitled "10 StressBusting™ vacation preparation tips").
Equally, we are never more frustrated than when we need some essential we have to purchase out of hours from our local 24/7 garage at double the usual cost.
We find these situations stressful as we end up spending money we could have otherwise saved.
To combat this, we use a revolving list which we add our essential needs immediately as we identify them, whether it be bread, milk, washing up liquid, toilet rolls and so on and so forth.
This list is invariably situated on our kitchen table alongside a pen or in one of our pockets!
Items are crossed out and added to as necessary.
We talk about keeping StressBusting™ assets and allies close in our posts entitled "Break Time Quickie - Keep Stressbusting™ Assets Visible" and "Break Time Quickie - Stressbusting™ Allies to Keep Close" respectively - this simple practice is a natural extension of this.
