Quinoa is a nutritious, gluten-free grain-like seed that originates from South America, but is not widely used across the western world.
To those in the know, it is recognised for its high protein content, containing all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete protein source.
Additionally, quinoa is rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals such as magnesium, iron, and zinc, which have been proven to reduce blood pressure and help stabilise blood sugar levels.
As such, it is a mega stress reducing food item that can be found on most local supermarket shelves but if often overlooked. This is because it is usually found on the baking or cereal aisle!
So, here is an example very simple recipe into which it can be incorporated and which is compatible with all diets.

Ingredients:
- Quinoa
- Mixed vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, zucchini, carrots)
- Spinach or kale
- Garlic, minced- Olive oil
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, or parsley)
- Lemon zest- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Cook quinoa according to package instructions.
2. In a pan, sauté minced garlic in olive oil until fragrant.
3. Add mixed vegetables and stir-fry until slightly tender.
4. Toss in cooked quinoa, fresh herbs, and a handful of spinach or kale.
5. Season with salt and pepper, and sprinkle lemon zest for a burst of flavor.
6. Stir everything together until well combined.
