Being prone like many parents of young infants to the odd afternoon 'siesta' to catch up on lost sleep following overnight impromptu pyjama parties instigated by Her Majesty the Baby, we thought we would go online to see if these were good for you.

An initial online search asking exactly that question stressed us out totally when it read that those who take regular afternoon naps are more prone to early mortality (i.e. death) 😲.

Not to be deterred, however, we thought we would examine the search results in greater detail.

We eventually accessed a search result about six down and the reason for this fact was finally made clear.

Namely, that those people who tend to sleep through the day without a reason (such as sleep deprivation caused by raising a child) often sleep in this way because they have a pre-existing health condition causing the tiredness which results in the necessity to sleep!!

So 2 lessons were learned for us there:

● firstly, to never rely upon a first or 'top of the list' online search result to adequately of itself address the question upon which you are seeking clarification, as further investigation of other results can provide greater context and help Stressbust™.

● and secondly, while siestas can be perfectly healthy and relaxing, to speak to your GP if you catch yourself sleeping regularly through the day without reasons you can readily identify yourself!

Much love and safe surfing
