This old saying is not allied to any particular religion.

It is simply designed to impress on people the importance of listening in life as well as talking.

We feel this lesson should form part of any sales training programme.

Because, so often, even people working in so-called "front of house" roles within organisations, fail to perform what should be one of the most basic and simple human tasks of all - absolutely nothing but listening to what others are saying or asking for.

We all have a tendency to need validated, and speaking about what we want or how we feel is a major way of achieving this.

But if you think about it, we can only speak about what we already know.

Whereas, listening affords us the dual benefit of learning from others views and experiences, as well as satisfying their respectfully stated needs, both admirable objectives that improve us as humans.

So, whether you work in a sales environment or not, start consciously practicing the art of listening at least as much as you speak in conversation.

And listen properly like you mean it, not as if it is a necessary evil to be endured before your next turn in a conversation.

You never know, this validation of others as well as yourself may have the added benefit of making you more popular in the process!

Big listening love 🤩💯💥xx
