The relationship between stressbusting™ and diet is a close one 🤞.
Old sayings such as “you are what you eat” have survived the passage of time for good reason.
But dieting is not a great “concept” easily embraced by the human mind.
It fundamentally encourages people to want (and aim) to “lose weight”.
Now while there may be very good reason for this (such as improved health, quality of life or the commitment to a sporting endeavour), the point is nobody very much wants to “lose” anything.
So the concept is outdated and counter Intuitive at a subconscious level.
After all, anybody who “lost” their keys, mobile phone or wallet would naturally be devastated 😪
And reduction of weight to some extent is worse because it could be considered a “loss of self”!
So, weight deduction, if required, should therefore be considered as “gaining” wellness not “losing” weight 👍.
We aim in all aspects of our life to secure this overall objective of “wellness” as this has both emotional and physical benefits.
Key to this is not simply the sacrifice of what we enjoy for the “greater good” but rather a higher degree of moderation in what we do and consume.
We managed to gain 2 stone of wellbeing each over a period of 2 years using simple adjustment techniques we will share in a separate dedicated blog entitled “Top 10 Super Cost Effective Stressbusting™ Tips to Dietary Wellness that SAVED us money”.
This in its turn opened up a whole new set of stressbusting™ opportunities to us as a result of reduced breathlessness and greater energy levels to name but 2 huge benefits 👌.
See our separate post entitled "ENERGY : The Most Precious Stressbusting™ Commodity in Life" for an indication of the importance of this.
We now sit comfortably within healthy BMI (and SMI™) levels and this gives us immense peace of mind as we go about dealing with the anxieties of life.
For an explanation of SMI™, please see our post entitled "Have an SMI™ (Stress Management Index™) to accompany your BMI".
And critically, we have retained this level of wellness since weight deduction.
This retention of wellness has been assisted greatly by us being a supportive unit together.
Meaning we are advocates for membership of support groups in this endeavour rather than trying to go it alone, 👫, wellness being a 24/7 commitment.
Research claims that it is arguably worse to repeatedly balloon then reduce weight than carry weight per se.
So weight reduction is about embracing and learning to appreciate and enjoy the benefits of a longer term healthier lifestyle that can be sustained.
It’s no fun constantly worrying if you are going to “fall off the wagon” so to speak (this causes a separate anxiety all of its own!).
For this reason we work regular treats into our lifestyle so we do not feel we are being deprived.
A good fry up from time to time - made in a responsible way - being one such example.
This means we don’t feel as if we are living like Monks.
We talk about how much better we feel than when we were carrying weight and celebrate it 🙌.
See our post entitled "Give yourself a Stressbusting™ Pat on the Back" for a summary of the significance of this.
We don’t pay any attention whatsoever to negative comments such as “you have lost too much” or “are you ill?”
These comments tend to emanate from people who for whatever individual reasons hold no concept of “personal wellness”, despite increasing pressure on the NHS, limited financial resources at a global level, an increasing life expectancy and a resulting higher retirement age making such an individual commitment vitally important.
All this said, of course always consult a specialist medical advisor if in any doubt or if you have any pre-existing medical condition(s) before committing to any wellness enhancement programme of this nature.
Love always, LouLoU&MikeyM™ ☺😚🤗 xxxx
