Being courageous can effect positive change but can be stressful for a number of reasons, not least:

1. Fear of Change: Courage often challenges the comfort of the familiar, and many people resist change due to fear of the unknown.
2. Social Conformity: Society may discourage courageous acts that deviate from established norms, as it can disrupt the perceived stability of social structures.
3. Risk Aversion: Courage involves taking risks, and in risk-averse environments, individuals or systems may discourage or criticize actions that deviate from the perceived safe path.
4. Power Dynamics: Those in positions of power may feel threatened by courageous individuals, as they can pose a challenge to existing authority structures.
5. Criticism and Judgment: Stepping into the unknown can invite criticism and judgment from others, creating an environment where courage is discouraged to avoid negative reactions.

But without change comes stagnation, which is no good for anyone.

And many of the most important developments in history would not have come about without immense courage in the face of criticism or adversity on the part of those pushing for the change.

That is not to say we encourage being courageous for the sake of it, as this is futile, exhausting and simply leads to potential unpopularity because it rings of attention seeking.

But being genuinely courageous in advance of a cause you truly believe in or which is objectively needed can be such an important catalyst for the long overdue or obvious change you feel in required, that it is the very reason people react negatively to it!

One simple technique to reduce the stress of effecting change is to ally yourself with others of similar beliefs in the need of change identified.

Because whilst it can be stressful, being an advocate for genuine positive change can create a lasting legacy not to be overlooked amidst the inevitable stress that sometimes comes with it.

In other words, if you can't see the change, you may have to be the change.

And effective management of that stress using some of the techniques contained elsewhere on this website may be preferable to the stresses of the ongoing status quo created by repeated cycles 🤔👍.

We would, as always, be keen to hear of users own personal experiences of matters covered in this post ❤🧡💛💥💫 xxx
