Almost everyone enjoys a take away from time to time.
When enjoyed periodically and in moderation, it can create a feelgood factor thar enhances a balanced StressBusting™ wellness lifestyle - see our post entitled "Variety may be the Spice of Life, but Moderation is the key to long term Wellness".
We sing the praises of technology as a means of improving quality of life in our post entitled "Embrace Technology to Stressbust™".
However, we feel that, on balance, there are a number of very good reasons to physically go and collect your take away rather than ordering it for delivery by telephone or online if you are able to.
These are as follows:-
● you don't have to pay a delivery charge and in addition feel obliged to give the driver a tip!
● saving yourself or the outlet the commission cost of online ordering might result in a few extra toppings!
● seeing the 'whites of the eyes' of those preparing your meal and vice versa can result in a bit more care in preparation rather than you being merely a number on a screen!
● it enables some positive physical social interaction in a world otherwise ruled by the tech!
● you can get some exercise if able to walk for your take away and enjoy your meal all the more as a reward for your exertion!
● you can actually check your meal while at the outlet to satisfy yourself that you have been given what you asked for, rather than a cheaper variation of it or, worse again, somebody else's meal entirely!
● you are more likely to remember an item or favourite sauce you forgot about if you can see it on a screen in front of you at the outlet!
● you can ensure your meal is collected in time when you wish to eat it and is still warm when you get home, so doesn't need a frazzling in the microwave to render it edible!
Let's face it, there is nothing more frustrating than shelling out hard earned funds for a take away treat to find it abjectly disappointing - its enough to make you "fizzworthy" - see our post entitled ""Fizzworthy" - a new entrant to our StressBusting™ vocabulary!"
And at the end of the day, we now find the cost of takeaways are little different to those of dining in a restaurant - all the more reason you should seize the initiative to ensure you get exactly what you want, when you want it, how you want it (just like the good old days!).
If you feel like it, consider staging your consumption of the takeaway, leave some over and take the stress and cost out of next day's lunch as a result!
