We paid more for a Baby Buggy for Her Majesty the Baby last year than for the car we currently drive.

And not being believers in carrying any debt, the car (like the Baby Buggy) was bought outright.

This seems like madness, on its face.

But the economics of stressbusting™ are no different to business and are thus guided by what are termed “WTP” principles.

WTP stands for “Willing to Pay”.

Businesses spend a fortune researching and establishing precisely how much customers are "Willing to Pay" for their particular products.

The resulting conclusions guide their pricing points.

Just as a person’s salary level is generally dictated by how difficult or easy their services can be replaced and how valuable they are to an organisation, so too is product pricing guided.

Hence the professional soccer player or NBA star who earns £1M per game because they are perceived by their employer organisation as being able to do things nobody else in the world can.

In our case, the Baby Buggy (like the comfortable pairs of shoes referred to in our previous post entitled “The Stressbusting™ Benefits of Reflexology”) provides us with a quality of life and Wellness that justifies us in paying as much for it as a car, reducing our SMI™ (Stress Management Index™) in the process.

For the imortance of this to a stressbusting™ lifestyle, see our previous post entitled "Have an SMI™ (Stress Management Index™) to accompany your BMI"

Without the Baby Buggy, we wouldn’t be able to walk as much and would have to rely on a car at the expense of exercise......

We wouldn’t have a secondary comfortable sleep base for Her Majesty through the day......

We wouldn’t be able to comfortably leave Her Majesty with family while we enjoyed a much deserved spa......

And so on, and so on.

In other words, the personal benefits of the Baby Buggy justified a price to us that may understandably appear excessive to others.

So don’t necessarily be put off purely by a price tag – work the wellness as well as the financial maths on a purchase in advance to establish what is right for you too on a case by case basis.

You may well be surprised with the conclusions you sometimes reach as being right for yourself, regardless of the views of others.
