Remote working now being the norm for many (including us) and here to stay in one form or another, we thought we would list out the 5 greatest and worst aspects as we see them below.
But with a little positive twist – namely we have tried as best we can to attribute a Stressbusting™ 💪 opportunity to each of the ‘Cons’, in the hope it gives us food for thought in the process of doing so as well as ideas to our readers. We hope you find these useful 🙂:-
Stressbusting™ 'Pros':
1. Comfort of work generally and means greater access to work for the elderly and physically challenged.
2. Zero cost or pain of commute.
3. Flexibility of childcare or the ability to have a pet (the stressbusting™ benefits of which we will cover in a separate post, but which can include an improvement in routine and productivity!).
4. Remote facilitation by modern technology.
5. If you are a so-called 'willing horse who always bears the load of others', then remote work gives you the chance to focus on and time manage solely your own workload successfully and without risk of additional burden.
Stressbusting™ 'Cons'
1. Lack of contact with fellow workers BUT this could be the chance to extend your social circle outside of work through eg joining clubs, forums or focus groups of interest
2. Temptation toward longer working days BUT the day could be better divided to incorporate exercise and a healthier diet, perhaps....?
3. More difficult to establish a work/life separation balance BUT maybe more specifically dedicated quality family time can be allocated to weekends and spent enjoying activities that have been long put off?
4. Increased clutter around the house BUT couldn't the house be better organised to create a more ambient environment overall (see our post entitled "10 Stressbusting™ Themes for Decorating to Innovate & Inspire" for more on this major stressbusting™ theme!)
5. If you are prone to laying off your own work to others willing to take it on, there is less opportunity to do so, BUT this might be the ideal chance to take full responsibility & autonomy for your own remote work and hopefully enjoy the satisfaction of earning a promotion on the back of your efforts in the process!
If the above doesn't provide some incentivisation, then spare a thought for those who don't have remote work options because of the nature of their job.
So, Happy Home Working!!!!!
