Humans are imperfect - this is simple fact born of hundreds of thousands of years of evidence.
If we were all perfect, then the entire insurance industry would cease to exist.
So the hope of achieving perfection is unrealistic and futile.
Aiming to do the best we can is commendable, but the belief that we are, or can ever be, error free, can lead to high levels of stress, self-doubt and dissatisfaction.
Accepting imperfections and learning from mistakes is on the other hand a brilliant self development tool.
Letting go of the fear of imperfection - a condition actually medically recognised as "atelophobia" - can be a weight off a person's shoulders.
And we should encourage both ourselves and others to let go of this misconception to live a happier, healthier and less stress fuelled existence.
